Lower School

We aim to provide a stimulating environment in which the individual needs of all our pupils can be assessed and identified. Working closely with parents and other agencies, the staff aim to help each child to improve his or her learning skills, play and level of independence through carefully planned activities.
The nursery caters for children with a whole range of special needs as well as “mainstream” children from the local community who join us on three days a week playing and learning alongside our pupils. The bright and welcoming nursery consists of two rooms, an open air quadrangle and two outside play areas.

The lower school consists of key stage 1 and 2 classes where pupils experience a full range of subjects as well as programmes suited to their needs. There is a continued emphasis on the teaching of communication and language.

We also have pupils in satellite classes at a local primary school, Goosewell, 15 minutes walk away from Downham.
